Sorcerer Build, The Ancient Paladin, PvE And Dungeon Healer

In this post I will outline the first notable build I have used in the Elder Scrolls Online. This is for my Sorcerer, a Breton Vampire, Daggerfall Covenant, VR16; although I used this principally at VR14. I am calling this build the Ancient Paladin, with reference to the motif used which is Ancient Elf, and Paladin a reference to the Healer focus; although a Paladin may be seen (and most likely often is) as more versatile. This build focuses on healing and does well in PvE, and also in Dungeon runs. I’ve found though that for PvP this build fails fairly hard outside of a group; the term “Squishy” comes to mind. This build makes use of two complete 5 piece set bonuses; they are the Healer’s Habit, and the Twice-Born Star sets. For the 5 piece bonuses, Twice-Born Star allows for two Mundus Stones and the Healer’s Habit makes healing more effective.

As I am using Twice-Born Star my choice of Mundus Stones are:

  1. The Mage – Increase Maximum Magicka
  2. The Atronach – Increase Magicka Regeneration

Again, because I am using Twice-Born star, I chose Divines as the trait for the five pieces; see below, and note the emphasis on Health and Magicka, as well as the use of Heavy armor for increased protection.

Weapons and Armour

Slot Weight Traits Set Glyp
Head Heavy Divines Twice-Born Star Health
Shoulder Heavy Divines Twice-Born Star Health
Chest Heavy Divines Twice-Born Star Health
Leg Heavy Divines Twice-Born Star Health
Glove Heavy Divines Twice-Born Star Magicka
Boot Light Divines Healer Health
Belt Light Infused Healer Magicka
Weapon One Restoration Staff Sharpened Twice-Born Star Weapon Power
Weapon Two Inferno Staff Sharpened Twice-Born Star Weapon Power
Necklace Arcane Healer Spell Cost
Ring Arcane Healer Spell Cost
Ring Arcane Healer Spell Cost

The two staffs are both Twice-Born Star; this is a matter of convenience to prevent the lose of a Mundus Stone buff if I remove an item for improvement.

  1. Blessed, the Apprentice – Increases effectiveness of healing initiated
  2. Elf-Born, the Apprentice – Increases damage and healing from spell criticals

  4. Staff Expert, the Atronach – As I have selected Staffs for both bars

Warrior

  1. Heavy Armor Focus, the Lord – Improves effectiveness of using 5 pieces or more of Heavy Armor; also the Lord has some good Healer buffs for example the 10 point bonus is Field Physician which reduces damage while you are resurrecting someone. .

Thief

  1. Arcanist, the Lover – Increases Magicka recovery
  2. Healthy, the Lover – Increases Health recovery
  3. Tenacity, the Lover – Increases Magicka and Stamina recovered on Heavy Attack
  4. Magician, the Tower – Reduces Magicka cost of spells

One special note: I’ve used this build on a Vampire and for group play it can definitely be difficult when exposed to a lot of fire damage given the Vampire’s sensitivity. I definitely would not consider this a professional build. It has however served me well the last 3 to 6 months. I’m currently looking to change up my Sorcerer build. If you try this build I would love to have your feedback. Hope you enjoyed this!
