Fallout 3 Error On Windows 10, The ordinal 43 could not be located in the dynamic link library

With Fallout 4’s release fast approaching, I have had an urge to play Fallout 3. I recently upgraded the operating system on my laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I own a copy of Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition through my Steam Account. I installed the game without a problem; and loaded the launcher. The launcher would load ok; even running the graphics optimizer on first launch. However when I launched the game by clicking the “Play” button I was meet with the following error:

The ordinal 43 could not be located in the dynamic link library
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\xlive.dll

Fortunately there is a plethora of helpful information on installing Fallout 3 due to it’s immense popularity. After some careful research and tinkering I was able to resolve the issue by simply installing Games for Windows Live (GfWL). If you are having this problem I recommend simply installing GfWL and seeing if it remediates the problem. You can find the installer by clicking here to visit the official site.

The solution I found was here on Reddit. If you are still having problems, or are having any unrelated issue, the Steam community has an excellent page here.
